The role of a meta directory is to federate the globality of the data bases scattered contained in the various directories of the company by ensuring a synchronization of information between a reference frame and the existing directories which constitute the information system of the company.

A meta-directory support on a directory LDAP to provide only one and single point entrance in the information system of the company, through a standard and standardized protocol. The objective is to give to the applications the possibility of nativement recognizing an accessible total single directory via LDAP. It is noted that the editors make evolve/move their software in this direction at the expense of the directories applicatifs owners.
